Gondia News: The entire month of September 1 to 30, 2022 will be observed as National Nutrition Month to bring about a change in the health and nutrition status of women and children. District Collector Naina Gunde directed that the ‘National Nutrition Month’ campaign should be implemented in mission mode by organizing innovative programs that emphasize the importance of healthy diet. She was speaking when the meeting of the National Nutrition District Circulation Committee was held at the Collector’s office today.

Chief Executive Officer Anil Patil, District Planning Officer Kaveri Nakhle, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Ganveer, Naresh Bhandarkar, District Surgeon Dr. Dr. Ambarish Mohbe, District Health Officer. Nitin Wankhede, Executive Engineer Water Supply Sumit Belpatre, Social Welfare Officer Tukaram Barge and officials of various departments were present.

Reducing stunting among children aged 0 to 6 years, reducing malnutrition among children aged 0 to 6 years, reducing anemia among children aged 6 to 59 months,reducing anemia among adolescent girls and women aged 15 to 49 years and The objective of this Nutrition Month campaign is to reduce the number of low birth weight babies.

Public awareness is a factor in improving the health and nutritional status of women and children. The District Collector gave instructions that a food awareness campaign should be implemented at every Gram Panchayat level. Activities should be organized based on the concept suggested by the Central Government to celebrate Nutrition Month. A healthy boy-girl competition should be organized in this. September 2022 National Nutrition Month should be based on four key concepts.

The key concepts are women and health, child and education (education with nutrition), gender sensitivity, water conservation and management, traditional food for women and children in tribal areas. Anil Patil said that nutrition awareness should not be limited to campaigns but should be implemented in daily life.

Very nutritious and useful wild vegetables are grown in our district. It contains a large amount of nutrients.He said that the fact that our diet should include wild vegetables of that season should also be convinced in this campaign.

He gave instructions that the information about the organized activities along with photographs should be uploaded on the website.In this meeting, it was hoped that the ‘National Nutrition Month’ campaign would become a public movement and people’s participation in it would increase to a large extent. Citizens should be aware of their diet and eat healthy.

Especially pregnant mothers and teenage girls should have nutritious foods in their diet. It was said in the meeting that this information should be conveyed to the people through this campaign.
